Summertree, Michael Douglas's third feature film as an actor, probably got its push to production because his father, the renowned Kirk Douglas, was the producer. He film was based on  Ron Cowen's off-Broadway play. Borrowing cliché moments from other late 60s early 70s films, Summertree has no thunder other than offering an early glimpse of Michael Douglas, who did turn into a fine actor. The movie also stars Jack Warden, Barbara Bel Geddes, Brenda Vaccaro and Rob Reiner.
