Book by Yann-Brice Dherbier & Pierre-Henri Verlhac (Editors)
While he was once known only as a blue-eyed Hollywood hunk, Paul Newman has come a long way baby. He's hasn't totally retired from films - he voiced a part in Pixar's 2006 Cars - even though he's said for several years he's burning his tuxedo - which means he won't be going to any more celebrity bashes. Today, the man who was one of the sparks in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids, is as well known for his race car driving and philanthropic endeavors as for his movies.
In his biography of Newman at the beginning of this incredible book, Laurence Alach leaves no stone unturned in his vivid portrait of the actor. From Newman's beginning, to his marriages and his career to what makes the man tick, Alach details it all.
On The Set of WUSA
Paul Newman: A Life in Pictures delivers much, much more. Inside this huge 8.5 x 11-inch sized book are photo after photo taken of Newman by celebrity photographers or studios. There are images on sets, with his wife Joanne Woodward, in plays, candid shots and poised one. Photos on horses, in cars, on bicycles and in trees.
On several pages are quotes by Newman. Some are philosophical, some heartfelt and others amusing, such as "I picture my epitaph: 'Here lies Paul Newman, who died a failure because his eyes turned brown.'"
Anyone who is a fan of Newman, his films or how he's lived his life "his way," will cherish this book.
