AFI’s 100 Years...100 Movie Quotes
Written by Diana Saenger
From “AFI’s 100 Years…100 Movie Quotes” more than half were from classic films. I consider classic up to 1985, and as you can see the majority of the list is made up of these films. So what does this say for Hollywood writers today when dialogue lines from as far back as 1927 in “The Jazz Singer” outshine today’s remakes and lines about bathroom humor? In fact there was only one film from any of the 2000 years, "My precious," – Gollum (Andy Serkis) in “The Lord Of The Rings- The Two Towers,” which was a real stretch.
